Celebrating Tea

herbs tea

International Tea Day is observed annually to celebrate the cultural and economic significance of tea. The day aims to promote and raise awareness about the diverse aspects of tea including its history, production, consumption and health benefits. We think it's a perfect opportunity to celebrate our nourishing, soothing and healing certified organic, “Healing Infusions” herb "tea" blends.

FYI Herbal infusions aren’t actually tea. Herbs are plants that can be eaten as food or used medicinally, as well as for beauty. Tea actually comes from a plant called Camellia Sinensis. The plant produces many varieties of the black, green and white teas known and loved around the world.

Believe it or not I created these infusions in 1994. Back then I served clients that came by my home to shop, these yummy, amazing remedies hot from a tea pot with raw honey, lemon, a cinnamon stick, and 2 cloves or a star anise.

In 2006 when we had the storefront shop and day spa, I learned the importance of going organic. I sourced out the finest, certified organic herbs for infusions. All of our blends have been 100% organic since.

Fruity (Healing Infusion's) Sun Tea

My Fruity Sun Tea recipe is a sweet, healthy alterative to those sugar-laden bottled drinks. However, unsweetened Healing Infusions are best for serious healing and/or detoxing.

  • 1 Quart of Filtered Water
  •       3 Tablespoons of "Healing Infusion in a Muslin Bag
  •       Raw Honey (sweetened to taste) 3 full droppers of Liquid Stevia (any fruit flavor)
  •      1 Cup Organic Strawberries (sliced fresh or frozen)
  •      1 Cup Organic Blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  •      1/2 juice of an Organic Lemon Juice
  •      1/2 Organic Lemon (cut round slices & then cut slices in half)
  •      Whole Mint Leaves

Directions:

Fill a quart jar with purified or alkaline water. Place bag of herbs in water, while holding on to the strings. Close jar with strings hanging over the outside making sure bag is completely covered with water. If the jar is too large, just drop it into the water.

Set outside or on a window ledge in the sunlight for about four hours, or overnight without sun. Sun Tea has a way of usually coming out just right. However, if you find it’s too strong just add more water.

Sweeten to taste, and add in prepared fruit. Serve in pretty glasses or in old fashioned, lidded mason jars (great for traveling) with lots of ice. Enjoy!
